Ambassador Valeriy Chaly took part in celebrating the centennial anniversary of the U.S. Ukrainian Orthodox Church
Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA Valeriy Chaly took part in celebrating the centennial anniversary of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the United States of America, which was held at Metropolia’s spiritual center – St. Andrew Memorial Church, South Bound Brook, NJ.
Valeriy Chaly conveyed to the Ukrainian Orthodox clergy of the USA and all the faithful of the UOC in the United States, greetings from the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. “Your celebration takes place at a time when we observe the ten thousand and thirtieth anniversary of the Baptism of Kyivan Rus-Ukraine by St. Volodymyr – the event that has become a significant stage in building our statehood and the European choice of our ancestors,” – is highlighted in the letter of the Head of State. “I am sure that your prayers will promote further solidarity, spiritual unity and interaction of Ukrainians living in different parts of the world, “– the President has emphasized.
The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the clergy and congregation for their active church and public work in the name of Ukraine, including contribution to ensuring that Ukrainian Orthodox Church will have autocephaly.
Valeriy Chaly discussed issues of mutual importance with Their Eminencies Metropolitan Yurij, Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada and Archibishop Demetrios of America, elder Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and Exarch of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
