President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a telephone conversation with French President Francois Hollande, during which they discussed international efforts to combat terrorism and to deal with the consequences of the tragedy of "Malaysia Airlines" aircraft.
President Poroshenko thanked for the strong stance and support of Ukraine expressed by the representative of France during the last extraordinary session of the UN Security Council. He also called on France to recognize the so-called "DNR" and "LNR" as terrorist organizations. "We do not see the difference between the events in Ukraine and 9/11 in the United States, or over the Scottish Lockerbie tragedy, when the Libyans led by Gaddafi blew up the "Pan-American" aircraft. Therefore, we expect the same coordinated response of all the civilized world", said President of Ukraine.
For its part, Francois Hollande stressed the importance to take the most thorough international investigation. He also said that after the proof of supply of Russian weapons to militants, including the one from which the aircraft was shot down, an urgent meeting of the European Council will be convened. Francois Hollande called on Russia to distance itself from the militants, and stop supplying them weapons, and on Ukraine to regain control over its territory.
President of Ukraine also informed that representatives of the investigating authorities of countries whose citizens were killed are arriving to Ukraine. He offered France to join the investigation.
The President Poroshenko also noted that terrorists are impeding the conduct of investigative actions, do not let the experts work, and seize evidence, in particular, they have taken onboard recorders. "But it will not save them, as we have satellite images from space launch rockets, and anti-aircraft photos and video installations, demonstrating the importation of weapons from Russia, and interceptions of phone conversations of terrorists and other compelling evidence", said the President.
