In the course of the phone conversation, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, President of France Francois Hollande, President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel welcomed the achievement of gas agreements between Ukraine, Russia and the EU.
The parties discussed the situation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine and once again called for immediate ceasefire under the OSCE monitoring and verification.
They agreed that settlement of the conflict must be achieved with preservation of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, especially in the context of elections in the Donbas planned for November 2.
The interlocutors reaffirmed their devotion to the consistent fulfillment of Minsk agreements as basis for the achievement of peaceful settlement.
Ukraine, Germany and France expressed clear common position that they would not recognize the elections planned by separatists, for they contradicted Minsk agreements, particularly item 9 of Minsk protocol of September 5 that stipulated the necessity of holding early local elections in certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions solely under the Ukrainian legislation, and urged Russia not to recognize those elections as well.
They underlined the importance of continuing the work of Tripartite Contact Group with participation of Ukraine, Russia and the OSCE.
