President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has held a meeting with Prime Minister of Estonia Taavi Rõivas.
The President has noted that the visit of the Estonian Prime Minister was taking place in the days of dreadful tragedy for Ukraine when terrorists destroyed the bus with civilians. "This is a disaster and tragedy for Ukraine. This is another evidence of terrorists' crime after the MH17 aircraft crash and many civilian casualties. This crime of terrorists from the so-called DPR and LPR severely violated my Peace Plan," the Head of State has emphasized.
"The hearts of Ukrainians are united with Frenchmen who are living through the Charlie Hebdo tragedy. I joined many European leaders who took part in the March of Unity to demonstrate that they are not afraid of terrorism. We are united in our solidarity with France just like the EU and the entire world are united in the solidarity with Ukraine," President Poroshenko said.
The Estonian Prime Minister has expressed condolences over the tragedy near Volnovakha. "These actions cannot be justified," he said.
"The main reason why we are here today is the demonstration of our support to the restoration of territorial integrity of Ukraine and the acceleration of reforms. It is goes about not only our bilateral relations. We are also making every effort for the EU's position of support to Ukraine to be solid and uniform," Taavi Rõivas noted.
The Prime Minister of Estonia has emphasized that his country stood for the necessity of fulfilling the Minsk Plan by all the parties to the conflict in the Donbas. He has informed that the issue of Ukraine and the fulfillment of all 12 items of the Minsk agreements were on the agenda of the European Council in the context of the EU's future policy in respect of Russia. At the same time, the Prime Minister has conveyed words of particular support from the Estonian business. "The business of Estonia understands that the Ukrainian and Estonian independence are much more valuable than the rapid income," he said.
Speaking of structural reforms, the Prime Minister has emphasized that "Estonia fully understands that reforms cannot be quick and easy, but certain success in their implementation will substantially accelerate the assistance from the EU, which is quite willing to help Ukraine".
The President has noted the importance of bilateral cooperation in the integration to the EU and the enhancement of cooperation with NATO. "The Estonian experience of accession to the EU, particularly the adaptation of legislation to the European standards and successful implementation of a series of programs, is extremely important and useful for us," Petro Poroshenko said. The Head of State has particularly mentioned the importance of cooperation in the establishment of e-government.
The Prime Minister of Estonia has also noted that Ukraine was quite interesting for Estonian businessmen and investors. According to him, Estonian investors believe in Ukraine and see a great potential of cooperation with it. In case of improved judicial system and regulatory policy, business activity between the two countries will be substantially intensified.
The interlocutors have also discussed the coordination of efforts for the reinforcement of the European energy security, as well as the opportunity of developing bilateral military-technical cooperation.
