President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has held a phone conversation with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.
Petro Poroshenko has expressed gratitude to Federica Mogherini for her efforts aimed at convening the extraordinary session of the EU Council on Foreign Affairs, at which the situation in Ukraine and the EU's reaction to the terrorist attack in Mariupol will be considered. The given attack of terrorists supported by Russia has ended up with 30 civilians killed and almost 100 wounded.
Federica Mogherini has expressed hope that the EU Council at the level of Foreign Ministers would make a constructive and consensual decision.
President Poroshenko has assured that Ukraine remained committed to the peaceful resolution of the situation in the Donbas and insisted on the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements by all the parties. He has also expressed hope that the meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group would take place shortly to facilitate further dialogue at the highest level.
The parties have agreed to continue close coordination of efforts in order to respond to the threat of terrorism and promote a comprehensive peaceful resolution of the situation in the Donbas.
