On February 11, 2015 the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mr. Pavlo Klimkin met with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel Mr. Avigdor Lieberman in the framework of his two-days working visit to Ukraine.
Ministers discussed further development of mutually beneficial cooperation between Ukraine and Israel. In particular, they paid special attention to the prospects of strengthening trade and economic cooperation, preparation for holding his year the Ninth Session of the Ukrainian-Israeli Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation, and agreed to accelerate the work on the text of a comprehensive free trade agreement.
Mr. Lieberman was briefed about the current political situation in Ukraine and the events taking place in Donbas. Minister Klimkin urged the Israeli side to join the efforts aimed at ending the bloodshed in Ukraine and restoring its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The Ministers also exchanged views on a wide range of the issues related to the international agenda, including the situation in the Middle East and the prospects for the Israeli-Palestinian settlement.
During the meeting the Plan for Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the State of Israel for 2015-2016 was signed.
