President Petro Poroshenko had a phone conversation with President of the European Council Donald Tusk.
President Poroshenko has thanked President Tusk for his participation in the March of Dignity in Kyiv on February 22, which became a symbol of the EU's support towards Ukraine. In response, Donald Tusk has noted the importance of the given event for the EU and for him personally.
The parties have discussed the situation in Donbas and the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements. The President of Ukraine has informed the President of the European Council on the recent results of the phone conversation in the Normandy format. He has emphasized that constant and comprehensive ceasefire and withdrawal of heavy armament for the monitoring and verification of the OSCE had not been ensured by militants. Petro Poroshenko has urged the EU to refrain from premature optimism and continue the policy of influence on the parties to the Minsk agreements in order to make them completely fulfill their commitments.
President Poroshenko and President Tusk have discussed the opportunity of holding the Summit Ukraine-EU in Kyiv in late April. The parties have also agreed to continued their dialogue at the end of the week.
