Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin meets with Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Philip Hammond
Pavlo Klimkin expressed appreciation for the strong support by Britain of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The minister informed the British side on the recent developments in the East of Ukraine in the context of the ongoing Russian aggression.
Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine welcomed the common position expressed by the UK Prime Minister David Cameron, the US President Barack Obama, Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, President of France François Hollande, Prime Minister of Italy Matteo Renzi and President of the European Council Donald Tusk organized by the British side during the video conference on March 3, this year, at which the parties discussed the ways of cooperation between Europe and the United States for effective implementation of the Minsk agreements.
The participants of the meeting discussed importance of continuing OSCE work in the East of Ukraine for a comprehensive control of the situation there, increasing the number of experts and providing additional equipment for OSCE mission in Ukraine.
The UK Foreign Secretary Ph.Hammond stressed on the importance of the EU consolidated position regarding the fact of the Russian aggression in Ukraine.
The British minister underlined that lifting implemented sanctions against the Russian federation will be directly related to the full implementation of the Minsk agreements.
Ph.Hammond confirmed the UK solidarity with Ukraine and stressed on Britain’s readiness to provide further support to reforms in our country. In this context, he announced provision of humanitarian assistance to overcome the effects by terrorist groups in the East of Ukraine.
