Ukraine is expecting positive decision by the IMF Board on the expansion of the country's funding, as stated by President Petro Poroshenko in the course of the joint press availability with Prime Minister of Sweden Stefan Löfven who is on a working visit to Ukraine.
The Head of State has reminded that Ukraine had adopted an important package of reforms. "This will fully ensure Ukraine's fulfillment of a part of agreements reflected in the memorandum with the IMF," he said.
The President has underlined the importance of the IMF's decision, for it will not only allow Ukraine to receive funds, but also result in a broad package of economic and financial aid from the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and other banks, loan guarantees from the USA that exceed USD 2 billion, the 3rd wave of macro financial aid from the European Union in the amount of EUR 1.8 billion and several hundred million dollars from different countries of the world. According to the President, this multibillion aid will ensure an opportunity for Ukraine to efficiently implement reforms.
"The overall package of financial aid and financial basis for reforms, which is a defense for our national currency, balance of payments and forex reserves, must exceed USD 40 billion," Petro Poroshenko noted.
The Head of State has emphasized the importance of recognition by the foreign partners of the act "that the Ukrainian authorities have taken the path of reforms". "It is extremely important to ensure efficient continuation of this work. I will not retreat from this," the President said.
