On Saturday, June 6, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, who is staying in Ukraine on an official visit.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk expressed gratitude to Shinzo Abe and called the first visit of the Prime Minister of Japan to Ukraine a historic moment.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine noted that this visit comes on the eve of the G7 summit.
Ukraine highly appreciates the personal support of the Prime Minister of Japan and the Japanese people, Arseniy Yatsenyuk accentuated: "This is both geopolitical support, when you are with Ukraine against Russian aggression, and financial and economic cooperation between our countries".
He recalled that recently the Ukrainian Parliament had ratified the agreement on mutual protection of investments between Ukraine and Japan: "The development of our economic cooperation is crucial for our countries".
Arseniy Yatsenyuk also stressed the importance of Japan’s decision to allocate funds for modernization of the Bortnychi aeration plant in Kyiv and the cars handed to the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs: "This is rather strong and powerful sign of support."
The Prime Minister of Japan said, during the summit of G7 states he with international partners would pay considerable attention to the issues of assistance to Ukraine.
Shinzo Abe appealed to Arseniy Yatsenyuk, expressing his belief that under his leadership implementation of reforms will be sped up in Ukraine. The Head of the government of Japan pledged the active support of efforts to pursue the reform process in Ukraine.
