President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Australia Tony Abbott.
Petro Poroshenko expressed his condolences to the Australian people on the first anniversary of the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17. President of Ukraine noted that Ukrainians share the pain and sorrow of all who lost their loved ones and relatives because of that terrible crime.
Tony Abbott thanked Petro Poroshenko for his hearty address on the occasion of the tragedy.
The President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Australia had a detailed discussion of the implementation of the joint initiative of Australia, Belgium, Malaysia, the Netherlands, and Ukraine on the International Criminal Tribunal to prosecute the perpetrators of crimes related to the downing the downing of Flight MH17.
Petro Poroshenko and Tony Abbott agreed to closely coordinate this initiative as a critical one, and in particular at the level of the leaders of foreign services.
The President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Australia stressed that the international community should demonstrate willingness to respond adequately to the security threats to civil aviation and international peace and strength in general in establishing the International Criminal Tribunal.
The leaders shared their views on the de-escalation of tensions in Donbas and discussed Australia’s further assistance to Ukraine.
