President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a phone conversation with Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte.
The Head of State noted the high level of interaction between Australia, Belgium, Malaysia, the Netherlands and Ukraine in promoting the initiative on the establishment of the international criminal tribunal aimed at punishing those guilty of shooting down the MH17 aircraft. “We managed to elaborate a comprehensive international legal mechanism to bring to liability those responsible for that crime,” the President said.
Petro Poroshenko and Mark Rutte condemned the position of Russia, which obstructed the punishment of those responsible for shooting down the MH17 aircraft abusing the veto power. “It is a veto against justice. The whole world saw that,” the President said. It was emphasized that such a decision had become another step towards the international isolation of Moscow.
The President noted that Russia could block the UN Security Council Resolution, but couldn’t stop fair trial.
In this context, Petro Poroshenko and Mark Rutte agreed to instruct foreign ministers to immediately coordinate alternative positions and elaborate a joint plan of actions aimed at the establishment of respective international judicial institution.
