n the framework of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda.
The Head of State highly appreciated consistent and firm support of Poland for the efforts of Ukraine aimed to restore peace and resolve the situation in Donbas.
In the course of the meeting, Andrzej Duda noted that Poland would remain a reliable ally of Ukraine in the protection of sovereignty and territorial integrity and implementation of pro-European reforms.
The parties discussed the situation in Donbas. The President of Poland emphasized the inadmissibility of “freezing” the conflict. Petro Poroshenko and Andrzej Duda condemned pseudo-elections in the occupied territories and agreed that military-technical assistance to Ukraine must be increased and sanctions against Russia must be enhanced should these elections take place.
The Presidents exchanged views on topical issues of bilateral agenda and development of cooperation in the Eastern Europe region, particularly in the format “The Visegrad Group + Ukraine”. The parties agreed to hold the next meeting in the given format.
Also, the parties agreed on the visit of President Duda to Ukraine this year.
