President Petro Poroshenko is confident that Kazakhstan’s accession to the WTO and the establishment of deep and comprehensive free trade area between Ukraine and the EU on January 1, 2016 will facilitate the development of relations between the two countries.
In the course of the conversation with media, the Head of State congratulated Nursultan Nazarbayev on the completion of negotiations on the accession to the WTO.
The President noted that Ukraine remained a party to the treaty on CIS FTA, which clearly sets forth rights and obligations of the parties. “All parties should observe the commitments undertaken during the signature and ratification of the agreement, including Annex 6,” the President emphasized.
Speaking of present negotiations in the format Ukraine-EU-Russia, the Head of State noted: “I think that the result of these arrangements will be the decision by the Government of Russia on the abolition of restrictions Russia is going to impose without any reference to any documents”.
“Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan are WTO members and must fulfill the undertaken commitments,” the President emphasized.
As for Ukrainian-Kazakh cooperation, the President said that today’s negotiations had been aimed to increase practical component of cooperation through the organization of specific high-tech projects.
In his turn, Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that Kazakhstan would observe the agreements signed with Ukraine earlier, particularly on the purchase of Ukrainian equipment. However, he added, the country will comply with its obligations under the Customs Union and FTA within the CIS.
