President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko is having a meeting with Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel who is on the first official visit to Ukraine.
At the beginning of the meeting, the President expressed gratefulness to Luxembourg for its active support for the European integration of Ukraine and clear pro-Ukrainian position in the protection of independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The Head of State also thanked Luxembourg for supporting Ukraine at the UN General Assembly session and its vote for granting Ukraine the status of non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
In his turn, the Prime Minister of Luxembourg thanked the President for the opportunity to visit Ukraine and discuss bilateral relations and interaction in the European integration process of Ukraine.
Xavier Bettel underlined full support for the policy of “single vote” of the EU in support of Ukraine. He also noted progress in the peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbas, which is “developing in the right way, though it is still fragile and it is too early to speak of significant progress”. He praised the activity of the Normandy format.
The Prime Minister of Luxembourg emphasized that the EU and his country firmly support independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as the necessity of strict compliance with the international law and sanctions against perpetrators.
