On Thursday, November 19, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with EU Commissioner forEducation, Culture, Youth and Sport Tibor Navracsics, who visits our country for the first time.

The parties welcomed a landmark event in relations between Ukraine and the European Union in the field of culture – an Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the European Commission on Ukraine’s joining the Creative Europe program, which gives Ukraine access to the EU common cultural space.

This large-scale program of the European Union will open up new prospects and opportunities for the promotion of Ukrainian culture in Europe, access to EU means and opportunities for the development of, in particular, the creative sector, film production.

Moreover, the Head of Ukrainian Government noted the possibility of translating Ukrainian authors into the languages of the EU member-states as well as works of European authors into Ukrainian.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine stressed that the Creative Europe program was very important: "Ukraine wants to be part of the big European family. I am glad that we follow a common cultural way."

Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Tibor Navracsics discussed concrete steps aimed at enhancing cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in the field of university and student exchanges. It has been noted the effectiveness of the Erasmus exchange program, which already operates in Ukraine.

The interlocutors discussed the situation with the support of the scientific sphere of Ukraine as well as help in the context of the needs of universities evacuated from the areas suffering from the Russian aggression.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk appealed to Tibor Navracsics regarding support for the Government's intention to create in Ukraine a network of leading high schools, starting with the consolidated institutions of regional importance in order to make these institutions show examples of the best approach in secondary education.
