In the framework of the visit to Lithuania, President Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania Loreta Graužinienė.
The Head of State thanked the Seimas of Lithuania for an important political support for Ukraine and clear position of Lithuanian MPs on condemnation of Russia’s aggression and occupation of Crimea, adherence to the strict policy of sanctions against this country-aggressor and necessity of proper fulfillment of all items of the Minsk agreements.
“We appreciate all 14 resolutions adopted by the Seimas to support Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, condemn occupation of Crimea and demand liberation of Nadiya Savchenko,” the President said.
“We understand your decisiveness in a struggle for freedom. Lithuania will always support your aspiration for freedom,” the Speaker of the Seimas said and praised Ukrainian reforms on the track towards the EU.
Lithuanian MPs noted democratic character of local elections in Ukraine.
In his turn, Petro Poroshenko praised the efforts of Lithuanian MPs aimed to consolidate support for Ukraine within the EU, particularly the European Parliament.
The President also noted the importance of maintaining active Ukrainian-Lithuanian interparliamentary contacts that should promote better interaction in the issues of countering Russian aggression and implementing the European integration policy of Ukraine, particularly in the context of learning the Lithuanian experience in reforms necessary for the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
