President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed №1601-VII “On amending the Law of Ukraine “On Unified State Register of demographic and documents certifying the citizenship of Ukraine, identity or special status”, which allows to register fingerprints in the biometrical international passports.
According to the law, fingerprints are defined as the main biometric identity and will be made on non-contact electronic storage of documents for traveling abroad, which will allow to identify a person crossing the border.
The law creates a legal basis for digitalization of fingerprints and registering them at the contactless electronic storage for Ukraine passport for travel abroad, the diplomatic passport of Ukraine, Ukraine service passport, seaman ID, crew member ID, identity card for stateless person for travel abroad, and refugee travel document
This document will ensure implementation of the recommendations of European specialists on liberalization of visa regime for Ukraine by the EU.
