Обидва міністри привітали підписання минулого місяця у Києві ключової Угоди між Україною та Японією про сприяння та взаємний захист інвестицій. Ця Угода є важливим сигналом для ділових кіл обох сторін і закладає міцний фундамент для поглиблення українсько-японського економічного співробітництва.
On March 3, while on official visit to Japan, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Klimkin met with the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan Yoichi Miyazawa.
Both Ministers welcomed the signing of a key Agreement between Ukraine and Japan on the Promotion and Protection of Investments in Kyiv last month. Conclusion of this agreement is an important signal to the business communities of both countries and it creates a solid foundation for the deepening of the Ukrainian-Japanese economic cooperation.
Ministers noted that Ukraine's accession to the EU common market with the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU last year opens up new opportunities for investors and provides an additional boost to investment cooperation of Japan with Ukraine.
Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan Yoichi Miyazawa confirmed the determination of Japan to develop cooperation with Ukraine in the modernization of energy infrastructure to ensure energy security of Ukraine in accordance with the accords reached by the leaders of G-7. Such cooperation includes the transfer of advanced Japanese energy-saving technologies to Ukraine.
On March 3, Pavlo Klimkin also held meetings with Chairman of Japan-Ukraine Friendship Parliamentary League Eisuke Mori and the members of Parliament of Japan, Chairman of Committee on Ukraine of Japan Business Federation «Keidanren» Norio Sasaki, President of Japan’s International Friendship Exchange Council Ken Matsuzawa and took part in press-conference for leading mass media of Japan.
