President Petro Poroshenko has held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rasit Meredow.
The President has stressed that Ukrainian-Turkmen relations were at the high level. In his turn, Rasit Meredow noted that Ukraine was a reliable partner of Turkmenistan and his country was willing to further develop trade-economic cooperation. He has mentioned positive experience of Ukrainian companies' activity in various spheres of Turkmen economy, particularly oil and gas sector, implementation of major infrastructure projects etc.
The Ukrainian President noted that Ukraine had a powerful power mechanical engineering complex and Ukrainian public enterprises were interested in supplying turbines and compressor stations to Turkmenistan.
The President has also emphasized interest in diversification of gas supplies, inter alia, by Turkmen natural resource. "Ukraine is ready and interested in restoring supplies of Turkmen gas as an alternative source," he said.
The parties have also discussed the opportunity of restoring air communication between the countries and the development of humanitarian cooperation, particularly holding of the days of culture. Petro Poroshenko has also invited Turkmen investors to Ukraine.
Minister Meredow has conveyed an invitation from the President of Turkmenistan to President Poroshenko to visit his country. In his turn, Petro Poroshenko has invited his Turkmen colleague Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow to visit Ukraine.
