At the meeting with American Senator Rob Portman, President Petro Poroshenko has emphasized the importance of transatlantic solidarity for the support of Ukraine, which is currently defending democratic values in a struggle against the aggressor.
“We are currently defending global security and global democracy. If we lose this battle, the whole global security will lose,” the President said.
The President emphasizes that Ukraine makes everything possible for the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements and counts on the support of the U.S. in order to ensure the fulfillment of these agreements by all the parties.
Petro Poroshenko has particularly noted the need for sending the international peacekeeping mission “in order to ensure the stability of the peaceful process”.
On the other hand, the President has emphasized that Ukraine was struggling not only to defend the country, but also to change it and “lead it towards absolutely new values”.
The President has thanked the Senator for his personal position on the necessity of providing more active support to Ukraine.
The Senator has emphasized that the United States should be closer to Ukraine. He was impressed with the changes that happened in Ukraine over the past year. Still, threats to the national security of Ukraine have increased significantly.
