The President had a meeting with Deputy Defense Minister of Poland Tomasz Szatkowski, Defense Minister of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis, Defense Minister of Lithuania Juozas Olekas and Defense Minister of Estonia Hannes Hanso.
Petro Poroshenko thanked the ministers for their support in the reform of the security and defense sector of Ukraine, particularly the exchange of experience and the assistance in the treatment of wounded. He also emphasized the importance of further development of Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian military brigade.
The Head of State noted that Ukraine had managed to demonstrate significant progress in the reform of the security and defense sector and the development of its Armed Forces in a very short period of time.
In the course of the meeting, the President paid special attention to the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements by Ukraine aimed at "achieving ceasefire, establishing peace in Donbas, beginning of political process and restoration of Ukrainian sovereignty over the occupied territories".
At the same time, Petro Poroshenko emphasized that Moscow hadn't demonstrated willingness to fulfill all items of the Minsk agreements yet. He is hopeful that the European Council will prolong sanctions against Russia during its session on December 17-18.
The meeting was also attended by NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov, Defense Minister of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin and Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Andriy Taranov.
