15 December 2015 19:20

At the meeting in Kyiv, Presidents of Ukraine and Poland discussed the issue of regional security and defense, particularly the activity of the Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian brigade located in the city of Lublin.

“The establishment of the Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian brigade is a mutually beneficial format of cooperation that increases regional security,” the Head of State said.

The President noted the strategic importance of such a brigade. “It will play a key role for the training of servicemen of the three countries, exchange of experience, establishment of efficient dialogue and participation of Ukraine in the Visegrad military tactical group of the EU,” Petro Poroshenko emphasized adding that the involvement of Ukraine in that format was important for the achievement of interoperability of our Armed Forces with the armies of NATO members.

The parties also discussed the participation of Ukrainian troops in the Shield military training in Poland. “We gratefully accepted this proposal. I think this new format of interaction of the Armed Forces will make the security situation much more stable,” Petro Poroshenko noted.

In addition, the parties agreed to restore cooperation between the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and the National Security Bureau of Poland.
