President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and President of Poland Andrzej Duda agreed to continue dialogue on the issues of the joint past in the framework of the Consultative Committee of the Presidents.
The President noted that the Ukrainian party was ready for a frank and constructive dialogue on the issues of the joint past. “We agreed to conduct this dialogue in the framework of the Consultative Committee. In this context, we welcome the intensification of cooperation between Ukrainian and Polish institutes of national memory,” the Head of State said.
At the same time, the duty of Ukraine and Poland is to ensure peaceful present and friendly happy future for the next generations. “We coordinated this position with Mr. President. History taught us that when Ukrainians and Poles quarrel, somebody else wins. We will not allow that. Our approach will be responsible,” Petro Poroshenko emphasized.
In his turn, the President of Poland noted: “We have no doubt that the creation of good Ukrainian-Polish future should be based on historical truth even if the truth is painful”.
