President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has held a phone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.

The parties have discussed the situation in Donbas. Petro Poroshenko has noted significant escalation and the increase of the number of shellings by militants.

Petro Poroshenko and Angela Merkel have coordinated positions on the eve of the meeting at the level of Foreign Ministers of Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia.

The parties have also discussed the economic situation and the issue of energy security.
