There is no wise alternative to the peaceful settlement of the Donbas crisis for Ukraine. Just as there is no alternative instrument for the achievement of peace than the Minsk agreements, as stated by President Petro Poroshenko at the reception on the occasion of the Independence Day.
The Head of State emphasized that Ukraine fulfilled the key provisions of the Minsk agreements. "Ukraine, European partners and the entire world expect the same from Russia and its accomplices: not to play around with the treaties, but to fulfill them," Petro Poroshenko said.
Otherwise, the reaction from the international community must be resolute and uncompromising, according to the President.
These are the main principles, with which the President departs to Berlin to meet with Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel and President of France Francois Hollande.
The Head of State reminded that in 1994, Ukraine was the first country to abandon the third biggest nuclear arsenal in the world receiving the guarantees of security and territorial integrity from all nuclear states.
"Despite the fact that these guarantees, unfortunately, came to nothing after the illegal annexation of Crimea and occupation of Donbas by the Russian Federation, Ukraine stays at the forefront of those who stand for a complete prohibition and elimination of nuclear weapons," Petro Poroshenko said.
